Kendall Karson Interview

Interview with Kendall Karson

Kendall Karson has been in the adult industry for a couple of years now. The first time you ever see her on film, you’ll notice her statuesque frame and her model-like good looks. Then she takes her clothes off and starts talking dirty and it’s game over! This girl knows how to fuck and it shows in her performances. She has done a lot in her life for being so young yet has a lot more things planned for her future. Kendall talks about this and more when I had a chance to talk to her.

Kendall Karson

Captain Jack: Tell me about Kendall Karson. What kind of girl were you growing up, family life, etc.

Kendall Karson: I was actually really shy. I was a normal kid, had a lot of fun, went and played on the playground, stuff like that. I came from a very conservative home, my parents were Baptist missionaries. I was a little bookworm, straight A student, never did anything wrong until high school (laughs) And then things changed. I was an athlete. I was dating a senior in high school when I was a freshman and I lost my virginity. It was very cliché. It was my first homecoming dance, afterwards. He was my high school sweetheart. Dated for a year and a half, broke up, moved away, came back, then we dated for about another year and a half. He proposed to me, gave me a promise ring, the whole 9 yards. Then when I graduated, I gave it back to him.

CJ: Did you have any other jobs before joining adult?

Kendall: I’ve done a lot in my life for how old I am. (laughs) I started out in computer and software technology. So by the time I was 19, I was a manager for one of the largest energy companies in the country. I am a nationally certified pharmacy technician. I was also a dentist assistant and I also owned a cupcake company for quite a while. I did business-to-business, so I sold cupcakes to restaurants and coffee shops and did large fund raising events. I did over 250 flavors of cupcakes, everything from scratch.

CJ: How long have you been in the industry?

Kendall: Well, I was in the modeling industry since I was 18, 19, around in there. I was starting to get into magazines but my boyfriend made me stop. He was insecure. I dated him for around 3 years and he’s actually one of the reasons I got into porn. Because I was lucky if I got sex once a month for 5 minutes, nothing more than missionary and doggie. I tried bringing girls into the relationship, role plays, toys… He didn’t want anything to do with any of it. And so once I finally broke up with him, about 9 months later, I got back into mainstream modeling. I came out to LA for a couple of weeks for some photo shoots and I was contacted by some people to do a mainstream girl/girl shoot—no sex, just stills—and it ended up being cancelled. But they told me they had someone who would be interested in representing me in the adult industry. I was a little naïve, I said, “what’s that?” (laughs) And so I met him for coffee, thought it over and called up a high fashion photographer friend of mine in New York. I asked him for advice and he said, “You have everything it takes to be successful, try one scene and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to do it again.” And here I am today and I just look at it as a way to for me to try everything I wanted to do sexually in a safe environment.

CJ: How long ago was that?

Kendall: It’s been about a year and a half, I’m coming up on two years soon. (laughs)

CJ: Can I ask your age and measurements?

Kendall: I’m 25 and I am a 32D-25-37.

CJ: How did you come up with your stage name?

Kendall: You know, everybody asks me that and, no, it’s not because of Kendall Kardashian. I didn’t even know she existed when I picked my name. I’ve just always loved the name Kendall, I thought it was unique. And Karson, I just thought the K and the K go together. I always thought of naming my daughter Carson, but I obviously won’t do that anymore! (laughs)

Kendall Karson

CJ: Were you aware of the social stigma attached to being a porn star and did that influence your decision in one way or the other?

Kendall: Um, people warned me but, honestly, I haven’t experienced a ton of stigma from it. I mean, I came from corporate America, I have a head on my shoulders. The way I maintain my professionalism; I think people have a lot of respect for that. Whether it’s being out in the public eye or being in the industry, it really hasn’t affected me. I’m very proactive about my career. I’m managing it myself. It might in the future but I’m a business woman, I’m saving up my money and investing in other things. I don’t plan on working for anybody else in the future.

CJ: So what did the agent do for your first scene? Tell you it was going to be a boy/girl scene and gave you the address? How does it work?

Kendall: Actually, when I signed with my first agency, they asked me what I was comfortable with; what I would do and wouldn’t do. I told them that I actually wanted to start with girl/girl. And as soon as I came to LA, two weeks after signing my contract, the first three scenes I was booked for was boy/girl. So I took the big guys (laughs). My first scene, they basically sent me my information and just like anybody else, I was really nervous. I showed up at this house in the valley and it was just myself, the male talent and the director. It was a MOFO scene, so amateur, POV. I was supposed to be the girlfriend, playing video games. I was supposed to ignore my boyfriend and he seduces me into having sex with him. And there’s a funny story with that. I didn’t really know any better. I had watched maybe 5 porn movies in my life before I got into the industry. I came in and thought, “I’m going to go above and beyond! I’m going to knock his socks off! Be an overachiever!” I didn’t know any better. In all of my past relationships, I had always swallowed cum. I thought that was the normal thing to do. I didn’t know girls didn’t like that! So we get ready to do the pop shot and nobody told me ahead of time how to pose for stills and stuff like that with the pop shot. So, he cums in my face and in my mouth and I swallowed the pop shot before they took the stills! So thank goodness he was gracious enough to give me another pop shot quickly. So that was my first learning experience on the job. (laughs)

CJ: How long did it take you to reach a comfort level?

Kendall: After my first scene I was fine. I think it’s more the adrenaline pumping through your body that gets you past your first scene because you don’t know what to expect. And then after that, it was smooth sailing. It was, “ok, I know I can do this.” I’ve always been very comfortable with my body and being naked so that wasn’t really an issue for me. I know some girls have a problem with that.

Kendall Karson

CJ: Do your family and friends know what you do?

Kendall: They do, actually. A month and a half into the industry, the ex that I was with for 3 years that I had mentioned to you, a friend of his had showed him one of my first scenes that was released. And he immediately went to my parents’ house, turned on the computer and made them watch. So my parents didn’t talk to me for about four months. Then it pretty much got to the point where I told them if you want to be part of my life, you’re going to have to accept this. Doing porn doesn’t change me as a person, I’m still me. Just because I’m comfortable enough with myself and my sexuality to have sex in front of lights and cameras instead of being ashamed of what I do in a dark bedroom like most people do, doesn’t make me a bad person. So once they realized I came at it from a business standpoint; I have an exit plan; I’m saving up for a future for myself and my family and I’m being smart and safe in what I do…I’m not going to say they’re overjoyed with what I do, but they’re more accepting of it. Our relationship is better than ever. My family has always been really close. It was really difficult to get through at first. Probably one of the most awkward days of my life was when I returned home for the first time after they found out…But now, my family’s really close and I love them to pieces and I don’t know where I’d be in this world without them. I go home every few months to see them.

CJ: What do you think are some of the biggest misconceptions about the industry?

Kendall: There’s a lot! (laughs) Well, for starters, most people think it’s very underground. We hide out in these seedy locations and do everything without anybody else knowing! That’s not the case. It’s very professional; tons of paperwork, most people came from corporate America and hated their jobs. They’re exploring different things and being entrepreneurs and it’s difficult to break into. I think the question I get a lot from civilians is “how can I have sex with so many different people?” (laughs) And I laugh because they don’t understand. When you have sex on camera, it’s completely different from having sex at home. I mean you have the cameras and the lights and there’s anywhere from 2-8 people watching you at any given time having sex. You have to cut and open up to the camera. And you have to reset the lights and remember your lines and also try to one-up your last performance. It’s really hard to have true intimacy with the person that you’re performing with you’re allowed to do whatever you want. You know, give us this many minutes and those are great scenes but, unfortunately for some movies, it doesn’t work that way. I can have sex with a performer on set and go home and have sex with that same person and it will be a completely different experience. And even for myself, that’s one of the things I was worried about when I entered the industry. I had to learn to separate the emotions from sex. Because growing up, I was such a religious girl, you’re taught that sex is love and you only have sex with someone you love. Especially for girls, there’s a lot more of an emotional attachment when you have sex with someone. So learning how to separate the two was a very big deal. And I think that’s a big misconception for civilians, that it is possible to separate those two things.

CJ: I’ll tell you another misconception. When I was at Exxxotica, one of the girls gave me a big kiss before I left. My friend goes, “you better wash your face right away.” I had to explain to him that having sex with a porn star is the safest sex you can have because they get tested every two weeks.

Kendall: Yes, that’s another big misconception. You know, the whole condom law that got passed last year. Honestly, for me, I feel much safer getting tested every two weeks and having the people I work with tested every two weeks than hooking up with civilians. I’m sorry, when someone goes out to the clubs and they get messed up or drunk and goes home with random strangers? You have no idea what that person has or what they’re going to do to you. You’re putting yourself in such a precarious situation. LA County just released some records not too long ago showing of all the people who live here, only .01, a hundredth of a percent, of STD’s actually comes from adult performers. So we should be focusing our efforts and our time and our energy—and our resources—on the 99.99% of the population and educating them on safe sex. (ED. NOTE: This interview was done before the moratorium).

CJ: OK, let’s get back to the fun stuff. Who’s your favorite performers to work with?

Kendall: (laughs) I get asked this question a lot. I have to say, I honestly don’t have just one favorite male performer to work with. Or girl performer, for that matter. It’s always a new experience on set, every time, even if you’re working with the same person again. It depends on the day, the company, the director, what the theme is, the location, what kind of mood you’re in that day…you just really don’t know what you’re walking into. So I can’t really say I have just one favorite performer to work with.

CJ: Is there anyone out there that you haven’t worked with yet that you want to?

Kendall: Yes, actually, for however it works, I’ve never worked with James Deen. I would love to do a scene with him.

CJ: Do you have a favorite scene that you’ve shot?

Kendall: I don’t really have a favorite scene, but a genre’. I love shooting features and parodies. I love the acting aspect, it’s really fun for me. I think it’s a neat experience to be on set all day. I’ve been on set for 21 hours straight for one movie. You’re in an environment where you have such a huge crew of people that is working together for one common goal; to make one amazing project that people are going to appreciate. That’s a lot of fun.

CJ: Are you into girls?

Kendall: I am! I am very much bisexual. (laughs) I love playing with them, I love eating pussy. But I could never give up cock! I’m always down for a threesome. I’ve brought girls home for whomever I’m with at the time. I think women are beautiful, they’re very sensual. There’s something you just can’t get from a man. Unfortunately, there are a lot of girls in this industry who are gay for pay. It makes it really difficult in a scene when one person is into it and the other one isn’t and she doesn’t even like girls. I genuinely love doing scenes with girls who are into girls. Those are the girls who I prefer to work with.

CJ: When you first work with someone new, do you talk to them and find out what he or she likes or don’t likes?

Kendall: It really depends on the situation and the person. Sometimes we’re running behind and we don’t really have a chance to talk. It also depends if I show up hair and makeup ready or if I have to sit in the makeup chair for an hour or two. I usually try to introduce myself at the very least ahead of time. We’ll usually have some chit chat about likes and dislikes and if there’s anything I should know going into it. We’re not exchanging our life stories or anything (laughs). Sometimes we’ll be sitting on set for 6 hours before we ever start filming our scene. So in situations like that, you would more than likely get to know that person a little bit better.

CJ: So what exactly do you like? What gets Kendall off?

Kendall: A lot. I’m a passionate kisser. I love more intimate things. I’m a huge dirty talker. I love to hear feedback from people when I’m working with them or having sex with them. I’m a switch so I go back and forth from being dominant. I like someone who is going to challenge me and push me and make me try things that I’ve never tried before. I don’t like it when people are robotic in their scenes and are just doing it to do it. I want to have some sort of connection or chemistry.

CJ: How often do you cum during a scene?

Kendall: (laughs) That all depends on who you’re working with! (laughs) If it’s a really good scene, then there may even be squirting. (laughs)

CJ: Do you have a trademark move or something you’re known for?

Kendall: I would say that I’m known for my sloppy, deep throat blowjobs and my dirty talking. When I first got into the industry, I would go on set and everybody thinks I look so sweet and innocent and young. And I am bubbly and polite but when I do a scene and I’m dirty talking and everyone’s shocked. Especially at the beginning. Now, everybody kind of knows. They were just so caught off guard by that. Sometimes I look over at the film crew or the director and their jaws just drop! Afterwards, they’ll say, “Oh my God! I had no idea!!”

Kendall Karson

CJ: Is it weird having sex with older men?

Kendall: No, actually. Because I’ve always been into older men. I prefer it. I’ve had a lot of experiences in my life. I’ve been very blessed. So it’s really hard for me to be with guys my own age. And so all of my serious relationships that I’ve had, except for one, has been with men that were significantly older than me.

CJ: What’s the most uncomfortable place you’ve had sex?

Kendall: Oh God! Where do I begin? (laughs) You know, we’re professionals so we have to deal with whatever circumstances we’re given on set. The Man of Steel parody… it was like 100 degrees outside, we were in the middle of the desert in an airport hangar. It was like an oven in there! Plus, we had to wear our costumes for the entire scene! So poor Ryan (Driller) probably lost about 5 pounds in sweat. I’ve had sex on top of boulders (laughs). Or out in the middle of the night and it’s freezing cold and it’s wet on the ground. So, yeah, I’ve had to film in some uncomfortable spots.

CJ: Other than the uncomfortable spots, have you had any bad experiences so far?

Kendall: I wouldn’t say that I’ve really had any bad experiences not as far as scenes go really. As to be expected with any industry, especially the entertainment industry with how competitive it is, you come across some haters. And it’s just learning how to deal with those things, I think that’s what makes you successful. That always gives you a thick skin. (laughs)

CJ: Do you watch your own scenes?

Kendall: Sometimes, not all the time. Usually I’ll go and, depending on what kind of reviews I get, I’ll check it out. I’ll at least watch a couple minutes of it. It’s awkward to watch your own scenes, I won’t lie. I think it’s weird. But I force myself to do it sometimes, especially if I’m editing for my website or something. It doesn’t make me a better performer. If I can see, “Oh maybe I could have done this a little differently or I could have done that better” or I’ll need to work on a certain angle, or my face didn’t look good in this position….So a little bit of self-critique.

CJ: Do you watch other porn?

Kendall: Sometimes, but lately I’ve been a little too busy because I’ve been on the road. (laughs)

CJ: How often do you masturbate?

Kendall: It goes in spurts, depending on my travel schedule. But when I do masturbate? The Hitachi is my favorite toy to use and I can usually go for 5 or 8 times in a row and get it out of my system! (laughs)

CJ: In a gonzo scene, how much influence does a director have on a scene? Is he shouting to open up more, switch positions, talk dirty, etc?

Kendall: I think it has a lot to do with the director and it also has to do with how experienced the talent is. So if you have performers who have been doing it for a while and know what they’re doing and actually care about giving a good performance and opening up for the camera and know what it’s going to look like for the viewer, then they don’t have very much involvement. But if you have people who maybe aren’t paying attention to that or maybe don’t care as much and aren’t as experienced, then maybe they’ll be a little bit more involved so it’ll be a better quality product.

CJ: Do you have a boyfriend or spouse?

Kendall: Not a boyfriend, but I am seeing someone. I don’t kiss and tell (laughs)

CJ: How often do you have sex off camera?

Kendall: (laughs) Several times a week.

CJ: Have you ever role played in real life a scene that you’ve shot on camera?

Kendall: You know, actually I have and let’s leave it at that. (laughs)

CJ: When a guy pops, where do you prefer it?

Kendall: In all honesty, I prefer creampies. It’s something where intimacy is in play again. It depends on who I’m working with. Especially in my private life, that’s where I prefer it. If not, then a facial. I’m a cum slut. I enjoy the cum. (laughs)

Kendall Karson

CJ: Are you going to branch out? You haven’t done anal yet, unless there’s something that’s unreleased.

Kendall: No, I haven’t done anal yet but I do plan on doing it. I also plan on doing DP’s and gang bangs. I’m actually excited about those. Those are something I really do want to try for myself.

CJ: What’s your ultimate sexual fantasy and do you want to live it out on camera?

Kendall: It would probably be a gang bang with a lineup of 8 guys. (laughs)

CJ: What advice would you give someone who wants to enter the industry?

Kendall: I would tell her to take a lot of time to think about it. Think about what’s going to set them apart and make them different to make them successful. Unfortunately, right now, the last number I heard is that the lifespan of a girl in the industry is 3 months. So there’s a high turnover. So if you don’t pour your whole heart into this and are bound and determined and know that you have to work your ass off every single day to be the best that you can be to really make a career for yourself. If you’re just in this for the quick money, just know that it won’t last long. That money is quick and it goes. And the content will be out there forever.

CJ: You just started your own production company, can you tell us a little bit about that?

Kendall: I’m very excited about it! We’re going to be filming features and parodies. The company is called Euphoria X.

CJ: Are you going to be the writer, producer, director and talent?

Kendall: Yes, I will be assisting with all of the production from end to end. Writing, directing, producing, being on set, making sure everything is running properly and to my expectations. They will be high end features and parodies. I will obviously have a team of people helping me.

CJ: Have you started already? Are you filming anything?

Kendall: We are in the works right now of starting to cast for an upcoming movie.

CJ: So how long do you think this ride is going to last? How long do you think you’ll be in the industry? Or have you even thought that far ahead?

Kendall: For several years to come. It’s going to be a mixture of performing, directing, feature dancing and personal appearances. I’m also working on my website so I’m spread pretty thin. (laughs) Even after I stop performing, I still want to feature dance, make some appearances and directing. So I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. My website should be relaunching very soon.
